About Us
Our journey with dogs began at a young age, but it wasn’t until 2007 that our path as breeders truly began. That year, we purchased our first Boerboel from Ataraxia, and it transformed our perspective on what a dog could offer. We were immediately captivated by the Boerboel’s extraordinary balance of structure—arguably one of the most functional mastiffs we had ever seen. But it was their temperament that truly won our hearts. Boerboels possess a unique combination of qualities: they’re as loving and affectionate as a Labrador, yet carry the staunch guarding instincts of a Bullmastiff, but with a level of nuance, intelligence, and loyalty that sets them apart.
The bond we formed with our first Boerboel was unlike any other, and it inspired us to dedicate ourselves to serving the breed. Our mission is to strive for conformity to the original breed standard, first established by the SABT in 1983, ensuring that our dogs uphold the strength, agility, and temperament that make Boerboels so special.
Beyond our work as breeders, we also bring a wealth of professional experience to our kennel. We work in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry at the Post-Entry Quarantine Facility, where we have daily, hands-on experience with a wide variety of canine breeds. This unique environment has allowed us to develop a deep understanding of canine behavior, welfare, and health. This consistent exposure to dogs of all temperaments and breeds further refines our ability to identify and nurture the traits that make Boerboels exceptional.
We believe this breed is nothing short of phenomenal, and we consider it a privilege to be custodians of their legacy. Our goal is to ensure that future generations can experience the wonder and companionship these dogs bring to the world. Our Philosophy
At Al Aseel Boerboels, we adhere to three guiding principles in our breeding program:

Located in Victoria, Australia, Al Aseel Boerboels is a small, dedicated kennel specializing in preserving the heritage of the old Boerboel lines. Our breeding program is focused on maintaining consistency and excellence by incorporating renowned bloodlines such as Avalonia, Ysterberg, Voorslag, and Piona—lines that truly embody the essence of the Boerboel breed.
Our goal is to produce dogs that not only exemplify the breed standard but also pass on strong, dominant genetic traits that align with it. Through careful selection and meticulous breeding practices, we strive to contribute to the preservation and advancement of this remarkable breed.
While we acknowledge the value of scatter-bred Boerboels, our focus is on line breeding to develop consistency, however we do not move past the 3:13 form. Ie, no direct family breedings. We strive to breed towards the original SABT breed standard consistently. Every decision is made with the goal of contributing to the Boerboel’s legacy, passing down traits that reflect its strength, functionality, and temperament.
